Major events

The U runs lots of major events on campus each year including O Week, St Patrick’s Day, Toga Party, SHAG Week, Back to School Party, Graduation, Autonomy Day, Oktoberfest and Cultural Awakenings. Events are held during the semesters on campus at various spots including the Bar on the Hill and the Auchmuty courtyard.

What you can do:

There are lots of volunteering options and they vary for each event. They include opportunities like working at event stalls, helping with wrist banding, decorating and set-up/pack-down, taking event photos or videos, working on the door at events, assisting people at Graduation and much more.

What you get out of it:

You get to hang out with some great people and make new friends. It’s a fun, social atmosphere and is great experience for your CV. You also get some rewards depending on the number of hours that you volunteer. If you are interested in getting into Event Management, it is fantastic experience in assisting with large events and photos or videos can go towards your portfolio.
